Julius and Emil
Heller founded the company Braunschweigische Lederwerke J. u. E. Heller in
Hehlen on the river Weser in the year 1920. The company with 150 employees
produced mainly vegetable-tanned harness and case leathers. In the sixties,
the production was switched over to mineral-tanning for upholstery leather
and subtle leathers for the famous German leather goods manufacturers. The
company HELLER-LEDER is able to look back on an 80 year tanning tradition,
and is still owned by the family in the 4th generation, represented
by the current owner and Managing Director, Mr. Thomas Strebost.
